I do believe that to get where you are going, you must start off somewhere. That "somewhere" means your budget may not always allow you to start off with expensive pro makeup. However there are a range of products that can be used when now starting up your collection. A lot of people start off with one of the most basic but popular brands such as Coastal Scents and/or BH Cosmetics. Me, I decided to try out NYX first.

Whether it is perfume, makeup, nail polish, clothing, I don't focus on buying any one particular brand, as I always like to experiment different and new things. Less popular products or brands doesn't always mean that they are not as good as the more popular ones.
Since I am now starting to build my makeup collection, below, are some of the beauty products which I started off using. You can purchase them at any Wonderful World branch or online. In my opinion, it doesn't matter if the product is new, popular or not . As long as I can work it, I purchase it. However this is not to convince anyone otherwise or discredit any other brands. You can still be cute on a budget!

Product Reviews
NYX Eye Shadow Palette. I use this for my daily makeup application to go to work. What I found about this palette is that it has a wide range of colours to choose from. The metallic and darker shades are more pigmented than the matte ones. I absolutely love the blues, pinks and natural shadows. I do not like the purple shadows at all. They apply very dull even over my NYX Eye Shadow Base; you have to apply 3-5 layers before you get to the desired shade! This is a really basic palette so I suggest if you're looking for a more pigmented look do not purchase. Great for everyday makeup or work. You may want to purchase this palette if you're now starting up as a makeup artist to build your collection.
MAC Lipstick. Whether you're a professional makeup artist or not, you will want to stock up on MAC lipsticks. No one could ever deny that MAC is not one of the most popular used and favourites amongst professional makeup artists, and even amateurs as myself. They have a nice smooth application. The matte ones stain your lips more, and therefore they tend to last longer hours than the glossy ones. The glossy ones are nice as well its just that I find myself having to retouch often whenever I use them. They have almost every imaginable colour for all different skin tones: blacks, naturals, pinks, purples, reds etc. When compared to other brands of makeup which I have used, such as Jordana and L.A. Girl...there is no comparison!!! lol! MAC is simply gorgeous!
City Color Bronzer. A few months ago while looking at YouTube I became aware of what bronzer is and how it is used. Prior to that I had heard about it before but didn't know the effect this could really have on your makeup. So it was recently while looking at a Vlogger/Makeup artist, I saw that she used this particular product to contour and highlight her face. Realizing the big difference it made on her appearance and her good review, I decided to get one for myself. It also was the first time I had heard about the brand City Color. It gives you a nice shimmery bronze look. I must say, I have no regrets buying this product and I am now on the lookout for other products from this brand.
L.A. Colors Blush. These blushes are really nice to use if you're looking for something affordable but still does what its supposed to do. Very Berry and Spiced Rum (the brighter pinks) works lovely on darker skin tones such as mine. But it all depends on your preference and the look you're trying to achieve. I found the Blushing to be a bit too light for my complexion so it doesn't show up much. But overall great product by LA Colors.
Before applying my eye shadows, I use my NYX Eyeshadow Base in white pearl. It gives a nice shimmery finish. I recommend using some type of base before applying your eye shadows so that your makeup doesn't crease, also, it makes the makeup pop and last longer hours. If you do not want a shimmer look I suggest you use one of the matte ones, which comes in natural and white. There is also the jumbo sticks which is available in matte white. I have not tried those as yet so I can't compare them to what I use. But more or less they so the same job whether its in stick form or cream.
L.A. Girl Pro Concealer. To conceal any dark circles on my face and to highlight under my eyes, forehead and nose, this is what I use. I also use it to contour my jaw and hairline as opposed to using the Beach Beauty Bronzer and highlighter by City Color. It is recommended to use at least two shades lighter than your foundation for highlighting and at least two shades darker than your foundation for contouring. You apply the highlighter to the areas on your face in which you would like to highlight and you contour the areas on your face in which you would like to appear smaller.
